Last-Day Clearance Sales at Guangzhou Yijing Toy Market
On June 21, the Yijing Yuan(艺景园) Toy Market at
Yide Lu will be demolished. One hundred businesses
inside this 14,000-square-meter building will
transfer their booths to the International Toy
and Gift City(广州国际玩具礼品城) in Guangzhou's
Huangpu district.
As today is the last day, prices of retail toys
will be dramatically reduced. Shop owners said
these toys must be sold out because new toys will
enter the market next year. Today's final clearance
sales have attracted many locals and merchants
from other cities.
Shop owners who plan to continue business at the
Guangzhou International Toy and Gift City agree
that only centralization and regulation of toy
shops will enable the industry to develop.
Merchants from other cities and foreign buyers
also support the move. At the Yijing Yuan Toy Market,
in addition to buying low-priced toys, buyers can
also make contacts among toy producers for future
business endeavors. However, while Guangzhou is
considered a good toy market, with fair prices and
a wide selection of goods, Yijing Yuan suffers
from a lack of standardization. It is hoped that
the industry will be upgraded to meet international demand.
